Muay Thai Kickboxing

So for a while now I've been interested in getting into a new sport since I no longer swim. Playing football and lifting does't give me the real energy draining workout I used to get everyday with swimming and dryland. Enter M
uay Thai Kickboxing. I've been interested in exploring something like this for a little over a year now, and finally got around to contacting a school and seeing what it was all about.

Last night, Capital Jui Jitsu invited me out for a trial class. The school offers a bunch of different disciplines including Brazilian Jui Jitsu, MMA Training, and Cross Fit, in addition to the Muay Thai Kickboxing. This was an intense wor
kout, more or less exactly what I was looking for. I got paired up with what I assume was one of the more experienced members of the class because the instructor kept using him for all the demonstrations. He was a very nice guy, and very helpful, and gave me a lot of tips and pointers throughout the class, but boy can he kick hard! Even with my hockey style blocking pads, I managed to walk away with my forearms already bruising up. It was a great cardio workout as well, and I was soaking wet with sweat. I miss this feeling of getting my butt kicked during a workout and feeling absolutely exhausted at the end. Muay Thai, I think you've found yourself a new student.

Here's a few pictures I took this morning of my arms. They were actually a lot worse when I went to bed last night.

I think swimming is much gentler on the body! Way to go Robert!

those are some pretty intense bruises.. I'd hate to see what I'd look like walking out of a place like that :)

Well I played some pickup basketball and my back was sore. So that's in your face.
