I am happier than Homer Simpson in his underwear set loose in a Duff Beer Factory right now!!! [I know...that's quite the mental picture right??]
To try and sum up a long story without rambling on and on, my car, The Colonel, will in fact be a 2009 model, and as of 8:45 this morning, I was back at D status!!!! I was told about 2.5 weeks ago that I would have to wait for the 2010 models, which meant that I might have had to wait till September or so to get my car! Redonkulous!
Anyway, I've been emailing with a rep for Chrysler Mid Atlantic the past few days and asked her if there was anything in her power to try and get me back in the 2009 lineup. She said no promises, and not to get my hopes up, but she'd contact her person up at the plant to see what they could do. She emailed again yesterday afternoon saying that they were aware of my situation and were going to try and get me back in. She said if all works that this morning I should be at C status. I replied with a very thankful and enthusiastic email, simply thanking her for her efforts. Then about an hour ago I got an email from her simply saying:
"D Status as of 8:45 AM this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That should start off your weekend on a good note! :)"
She was spot on when she said that should start my weekend off right! Chances are good that I might actually have my car delivered by the end of July! Basically as soon as the plant resumes production on Monday, they'll have 2 maybe 3 weeks to finish off the 2009 orders, before closing for another 2 to 3 weeks to re-tool and get ready to begin production on the 2010 model year. So my car could be physically built in the next 2 weeks, then maybe another 2 weeks for delivery.
I just want to say that even in these trying times, it's been an unexpected breath of fresh air to know that the customer hasn't been forgotten, and they really are working hard for us to make sure we get the car we want. I have been more than impressed with the level of personal attention I've received throughout this whole ordeal from this particular rep at Chrysler. When I get my car, I plan on sending her a card with a picture of me and the Colonel in it. Now for the mandatory status breifing:
