Well, I almost forgot about these two additional items also waiting to get installed once the Colonel gets home!
The little do-hicky on the the left is what's called a skip shift eliminator. Basically the engineers that built the Challenger R/T got around having to add on the gas guzzler tax to the R/T because they were able to report better MPG ratings. They were able to do so becuase under certain parameters [see below] the transmission will force you to shift from 1st to 4th, thereby not letting you accelerate as quickly and burn less gas. BORING!!!! Fortunately the skip shift eliminator was developed as the solution to that pesky problem! A few people have reported that it most commonly likes to kick in while turning left through an intersection from a stop, or when merging into high speed traffic....dangerous areas not to have the power on tap that you thought you would. So not only will the skip shift allow me to enjoy the Colonel's power to it's full potential, it will keep me safer too! [Props to my sister for getting me this for my bday]
- Engine coolant exceeds 41°C (106°F)
- Vehicle speed is between 12 and 20 MPH
- Engine operating above 1322 RPM
- The PCM verified first gear speed/RPM
- Throttle position sensor (TPS) signal is less than 0.68 volt above closed throttle (23 percent throttle opening)
The other little guy is a locking gas cap. I've never had an issue with people tampering with my gas or stealing or anything like that, but i've heard of it happening with plenty of nicer cars. Sad really, that people like to cause harm to others purely based on jealousy. Anyway, this will help put my mind at ease! [Thanks to these kind folks for this gift]
