Yesterday on my way home from work I stopped at the dealer to get the first oil change done on the Challenger, mostly because I didn't want to try and take off the factory oil filter [they're always put on wayyyyy too tight], and it was free, soooo might as well right? I asked the service manager when the car was done whether or not he knew if the tech drained the catch can. He said probably not, so check when you get home just in case. No problem.
Got home, and opened the hood to let everything cool off. Came back a few hours later, and had one heck of a time trying to twist the bottom of the catch can loose! I just didn't have a good angle on it to get a decent amount of grip to unscrew it. Well I ended up rotating the catch can counterclockwise up towards the CAI [cold air intake] to get a better grip on the bottom, then all of a sudden I hear a crack. Aw DANGIT! The right hose from the catch can went right up into the IAT sensor and bent it pretty good. I tried to bend it back a little, and blew it off with the air compressor, tried to stick it back into the intake tube and cracked/bent it again. Welp that one's done!
Gonna have to try and swing by the dealer on my way home today and grab a new sensor [thank God for having a second/daily driver car!] I was actually planning on driving the Mitsubishi today anyway since it's supposed to be rainy later on. Also, I would not recommend to anyone trying to install the sensor into the grommet and intake tube when it's already installed, I bent mine way too easy. So I'm going to have to disassemble the CAI and reinstall the sensor. Oh well, more time working on the car! Here's a few pics from my 'oops' last night.
