This past weekend was both uneventful, and yet, extremely eventful. Saturday's weather was nothing short of dreary, being cold, dark, and rainy all day long. I got up early and went for a swim so I could feel better about myself for spending the rest of the day on the couch watching movies. I haven't done that in a long time, so it was actually kind of nice. I cranked out 4500 yards of swimming in the morning which works out to about 2.5 miles:
Now that some more of the snow has melted, I should be able to start hitting the trails again on foot and on bike, but on Saturday it was swimming. And that was about it for Saturday, nice relaxing day, excellent.
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee |
Sunday was a totally different beast. In the early afternoon hours, I headed to the Washington Auto Show with my good friend Ben to check out all the new cars, SUV's, and trucks. I go every year and have enjoyed seeing cars that were once concepts and off limits to explore, now open and a part of a manufacturers full time line up. Also, I get a little kick out of jumping up and down in the back of all the pick up trucks to test out their suspension....but that's just me. I'm a huge fan of the newly redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee, and really enjoyed sitting in it and exploring it, and seeing if the interior really is that much superior to the model it replaced. It is. A friend of mine was nice enough to hook us up with some free tickets, which made the show that much better. We walked around for close 4 hours, and then headed outside and a block away to the Old Dominion Brewhouse. Why you ask? Because....
SUPER BOWL PARTAYYY!!! Every year the local rock station, DC101, throws a super bowl bash for its listeners. The party is free, but you have to win tickets to get in. After 2 weeks of failing to get through on the phone to win tickets, I heard one of the members of the station's morning show was going to be at a nearby Best Buy store giving away tickets, so that morning I drove over and was able to score some for my friends and I. Ben and I got to the bar shortly after the doors opened at 4:00, and that couldn't have been too soon. Within 15 minutes of getting in, pretty much all the tables were spoken for, but luckily we were able to grab one while we waited for another 2 friends to show up.
The party.
Not much to say about the game itself, other than I'm glad that the Steelers lost, and I'm glad that Aaron Rodgers got himself a super bowl win, esp after all he had to go through with Brett Favre being such a dork up in Green Bay.
Not so happy. Ha.
But that was only half of the glory for the anti-pittsburgh fans out there! The Caps also handed out a solid beat down of the Penguins next door at the Verizon Center earlier in the afternoon. Like I said, for the anti-pitt fans, yesterday was GLORIOUS! [I'm not really that angry, I promise!] I wish the day after the super bowl was a holiday though, or that my weekend days were flipped around, cause I need another day to recover from yesterday. All in all though, a fantastic weekend! And there you have it, a glorious weekend recap. Enjoy!

Nice recap - when I saw the picture of the car, I thought you might have bought one! :)
