The Inner Circle

Yesterday evening I was out running a couple errands and was passing by a Barnes & Noble, and decided to stop. I feel like I should preface this post by saying that I'm not much of a book reader, at least not anymore. I believe the last book/novel I read for fun was 'The Davinci Code' when I was on a cruise almost 5 years ago. Now don't get me wrong, it's not like I haven't read anything since, in fact I read a lot, but it tends to be mostly research on new cars, or technology, or the art of manliness to name a few. Point is, I haven't sat down to read a book for fun and leisure in quite some time. Before I dig myself an even bigger hole here, I'll just move along with the story.

About a month ago, the morning show that I listen to on my way to work had an author on by the name of Brad Meltzer. I hadn't heard of him before, but ended up being quite happy that I caught the interview. Brad is a thriller type author, and his most recent book 'The Inner Circle' is a book about the secrets of the President of the United States. I love the National Treasure movies and this book sounds to be relatively similar to how those play out. I love the adventure, the wonderment, and the whole idea of "what if?" about some of these mysteries. Here's a brief clip/preview of the book.

So back to last night. I was driving right by Barnes & Noble, and thought to myself, "why not stop and pick up the book that I heard about last month?" So that's what I did, on a total whim, I went and bought a book. I got through the prologue and chapter 1 last night before turning out the lights, and plan on reading for a short while every night from here on out. ....At least that's the plan. I'll be sure to write a follow up post after I'm done with the book and let everyone know my thoughts and whether or not it gets my recommendation. Although, I'm sure it will, since this is the type of story that's right up my ally. If you have some time, listen to this interview with Brad all about the book from the morning show last month. It's almost an hour long, so maybe just play it in the background at work or something, but it is very interesting and worth the listen. I'm real excited to read this one, and hope to report back sooner than later. Stay tuned and as always, enjoy!

Yay for reading books again! I love to read; just don't have enough time to do it as much as I'd like. This book sounds wonderful!
