To Shuffle Or Not To Shuffle

I like music, a lot. It's what helps me through my day to day routines, gets me in the mood to work out, cheer me up, or even put me to sleep. But every once in a while I'm at a loss of what I feel like listening to. I'll open up the ipod player on my phone and skim through my preset playlists, and if nothing strikes my fancy, I'll switch over to 'songs' and hit that magical tab at the top, 'Shuffle'.

I've also got a ton of music on my phone, enough to last for a week or two if played straight through, so when I hit the ol' shuffle button, it's a bit of a crap shoot of what you're gonna get. But isn't that part of the fun? There are definitely times when I've heard a really good song that I didn't even know I had, and have had to look down to see what it was. There are also times when I get a song that I really don't like at all, and I'll reach down and hit the 'next' button to skip over that song, and then I'm left wondering why I even still have that song on my player, taking up valuable space! Of course I don't do anything about it, and then ask myself that same question next time I hear the song.

Moving on though, this morning was one of those mornings where I was left with no choice but to hit the shuffle button, and thought it would be fun if I wrote down the first 10 songs that played, and then share them with you all. I should note that I chose to not skip ahead through any of them, so everything on this list I listened to in it's entirety whether I liked it or not! Also of note, I always find it crazy that out of more than 3,500 songs, there are still times when I get the same band a couple times in a row [like what happened with Senses Fail in the list below.] At any rate, listed below is my list, and admittedly, I was hoping for a better finale than Prodigy, but that is how today's shuffle list decided to play out [haha, get it?] Enjoy!

AC/DC = More Horsepower

I read somewhere on the interwebz that if you have AC/DC blasting through the speakers of your muscle car, that it's good for at least an additional 5 horsepower! ....Still haven't found the facts supporting that statement....but there's no way that can't be true. The car should hopefully arrive this week., and I'm putting the finishing touches on my driving playlist in preparation, this song just so happens to be on it. Enjoy!

Hump Day....Video

Well it's been a pretty busy week so I must apolgize for not updating this here blog, but alas a new year is upon us! I've never really been big on new years resolutions. To me they just seem like a way of making it okay to excuse the slacking off you did since last January. Plus they just make the gym way more crowded for the next 3 weeks, or until people realize they're not self-motivated enough to stick with something. "Lady, roaming about the gym with your iPhone attached to your arm, before settling on the elliptical machine for a nice 5 minute stint will not help your physical fitness at all!!!"

Sorry, almost got carried away there. Anyways, hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and has a Happy New Year! Instead of making cheesy resolutions how about you just set your sights on one big goal and go make it happen. Here's a nice little rendition of 'Auld Lang Syne' for you! Everyone be safe tonight.

Hump Day Playlist

It's Wednesday. You know what that means. Hump Day Playlist!! I was sitting around last night trying to come up with a good theme for today's list, but I just couldn't come up with one that I was satisfied with. Kinda like a nickname, you can't force it. As I got to work this morning, I was racking my brain still working on it. I began my morning routine; started the (10 minute) login process on my PC, while I logged onto the Mac (in about 10 seconds).....ugh, boy do I hate microsoft windows with a passion, so slow. Anyway, I plugged in my ipod and started checking some email. That's when it hit me. Today's theme, is no theme. The following songs are just the first 15 songs that came up on the ipod shuffle this morning. Hopefully there's a few in there that you've never heard before, and more importantly....you like them! Enough gibber-gabber. On with the music!

Relient K - Pressing On
Rise Against - Kotov Syndrome
Brand New - Okay I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't
Fall Out Boy - Saturday
Mae - Everglow
No Use For A Name - Fields Of Athenry
Yellowcard - Only One
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Grim Goodbye
Bad Religion - To Another Abyss
Motion City Soundtrack - The Future Freaks Me Out
Paramore - For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic
Boy Sets Fire - Dying On Principle
Social Distortion - Far Behind
Five Iron Frenzy - Every New Day (Live)
The Killers - Mr. Brightside

Hump Day Playlist

Happy Hump Day! As previously mentioned you'll most likely be seeing a decent amount of music and video related posts on this here blog of mine. One thing I'd like to do is create the Wednesday (or Hump Day) playlist, you know, to get you over the hump and onto looking forward to the weekend. Themes or compilations are usually a lot of fun, and today is no exception.

It's now December, the daylight hours are short and the days are cold....well except today cause it's going to be like 60 or something ridiculous, but you know what I mean. At any rate, It's winter time. And with winter comes one of my most favorite activities of all time. No, not Guitar Hero (although I do admit, I can shred a killer rendition of Cliffs of Dover) - I'm talking about SNOWBOARDING!! Unfortunately for me, I don't live out west....yet. No, I live in good ol, non-congested, stress free, easy going, not a care in the world, Northern Virginia. The closest semi decent mountain is at least 3 hours away, and even then it pails in comparison to what the west coast, Europe, our neighbors to the north, or even New Zealand have to offer. We get to snowboard (or ski) on a winterly mix of what I speculate is probably no less that 65% man made tiny ice chips. Translation: we have the worst snow conditions ever. The plus? When you head out west, or any place that is accustomed to perfectly groomed runs and 6 inches of fresh powder a day, you're in heaven. As an added bonus, if there's even a hint of frozen snow, the locals call it terrible conditions, bail for the day, and wonder how the heck we're able to maintain control.

Whew! My apologies, had to get that out of the way. My point is that it's now the snowboarding season, and I'm busting at the seems with anticipation of getting back out on the snow. So today's 'Hump Day Playlist' contains some music which I tend to listen to while out snowboarding, some of which you probably never would have guessed. Enjoy!
