Splash On Em!

It was cold this morning, 26 degrees when I left my house in fact, and I rode into work today. Not gonna lie, it was a bit chilly out there.....my water bottle was even starting to freeze up! No bueno. So to combat the cold, here's a lovely swimming music video featuring none other than Northern VA's own, Ed Moses...and a few other fast swimmers. Obviously this is a 'for fun' music video with many amusing aspects....my favorite is probably the dodgeball part and the facial expressions. Anyways, enjoy the sights of warmer climates and nice swimming pools!

Track Mom

The driver in the video below has a track-prepped Corvette and is taking his mom for a little ride around the world famous Laguna Seca race track out in Monterey, California. I would LOVE to be able to do something like this with my car, and my mom riding shotgun. I can only imagine the screams that she would let out. Of course I'd have to have the GoPro camera rolling as well, to capture it all. In the meantime though, this mom/son combo will have to do, until I can make the track day happen. It's quite hilarious, and the mom has some really funny one-liners in there as well. [Oh and she didn't know the cameras were rolling!] Enjoy!

Wrong Numer? Wrong Number.

So I was hanging out with some friends last night, when the text message tone on my phone went off. I was in the middle of playing Mario Brothers on the Wii, so I didn't check it right away. Anyway, after a few minutes I check my phone and it was a text message from someone that I didn't know, not a huge deal, that happens from time to time. The message itself however, was a little more entertaining. It simply read "Yo i need bud" -- Now, I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and assume that the sender wasn't looking for bud light.

I really didn't know what to think except that they obviously had texted the wrong person, but I wanted to reply in a funny way somehow. It was until this morning that I came up with a good enough idea. Here's a screen shot from my phone after I replied this morning, I blurred out the numbers except for the area code of the sender just out of courtesy. 972 in case you were wondering is from the Dallas area.

And just in case you can't tell what my reply was, here's a larger picture:

I'm not really expecting any reply, but I thought this was kind of funny. In the case that I do get a response, perhaps I'll try to establish a rapport with them, and use them as a text message version of a magic 8 ball. Actually, on second thought maybe that's not such a good idea after all.....

Stress Relievers?

Every once in a while, you just gotta let loose and just scream to let off some, well steam. [That was not intended to rhyme] If you're at a loss for what to yell to get that little bit of relief, might I suggest these two little golden nuggets. The first is probably quite a bit more popular, because it comes from Seinfeld. Serenity Now:

[Serenity Now]

The second comes from a far less popular, albeit brilliantly funny show called The League. It debuted last year on FX and is about a bunch of buddies and their fantasy football league. For anyone that plays fantasy football, you MUST watch this show! It's hilarious, and it also produced this tidbit, the Shiva Blast. Shiva is short for Shivakamini Somakandakram, the full name of an old high school student the fella's named their league and trophy after.

Happy 4th of July Weekend!

I'm planning on heading down to the lake tomorrow morning for some playtime on the boats and plenty of BBQing! Hope everyone out there has a happy, fun, and safe weekend! This is about the most amusing and patriotic video I could find...nevermind the fact that it involves a Swedish chef. BORK BORK BORK. Happy 4th everyone. Enjoy!

Ro-Bert The Conqueror

I watch a lot of the Travel Channel on TV, and it's dangerous but inspiring and awesome all at the same time. There's a new show that debuted last week called 'Bert The Conqueror' - next to being a baseball manager and getting to see each game from the dugout, all decked out in nice looking gear with an endless supply of bubble gum, gatorade, and sunflower seeds, Bert has got to have the greatest job in the world....at least to someone like me!

This guy gets to travel all around the country doing the most insane stuff, and he gets paid to do it! Man did I really miss the boat on trying to take advantage of that job opening. To his credit though, he is really really funny to watch, and probably has a slightly better on camera persona that I might have, but that's nothing that I couldn't work on! He does have one advantage though, he's seems generally scared of a lot of these challenges, whereas I would be racing to be first in line, and then want to do it again blindfolded with my hands tied behind my back. That fear really comes out well in his facial expressions!

Jumping off a building in a simulated free fall? SIGN ME UP!!

[Bert, if you ever happen to read this and need a crazy sidekick to do these challenges with, goof off with, and possibly make fun of your crazy faces, let me know buddy and I am there!!! After all......my whole life revolves around being a 6 year old at heart!]

Air Guitar, Rocking Out, and Classic Rock

Every once in a while you have to just let loose and rock out. I do this on a regular basis, yet probably not enough. It's even better when you go nuts, and don't care how stupid [or awesome, depending on your point of view] you may look.

There are two videos posted below. Some of you may be familiar with the first one. It's from an episode of Scrubs when the hospital's air band, the 'Cool Cats' performs More Than A Feeling at the end. It's a classic scene. The second video is from this past weekend when I was down in Tennessee. We had some free time one afternoon and my buddy and I felt the urge to get our rock on. We also happened to choose More Than A Feeling as our song, and it wasn't until the weekend was long over did I remember about the Scrubs version.

Now, I don't think we could ever compare ourselves to the Cool Cats, but what's your take on our [unrehearsed] version? At any rate, I'm sure this will be good for a few laughs at my expense [I'm in the black trunks.] Happy Friday everyone. Enjoy!

Star Wars Day

Happy Star Wars Day folks [for those that didn't know.] I found this rather humorous video clip of Darth Vader providing the new voice for TomTom's GPS units....which is funny cause I just bought a new Garmin GPS for all of my super awesome adventures this summer, oh well. Live long and prosper May the force be with you. Too Much? Eh, enjoy the video!

Origins Of Breakdancing

I like to entertain people, but every once in a while I like to educate as well, albeit most of that education comes in the form of automotive news and how-to's. Today's post just happens to contain the best of both worlds.

How many know the origins of breakdancing? I knew what breakdancing was, but before today I admit to not knowing how it actually got started. Well my friends, this morning that all changed. I present to you, the true beginnings and roots of breakdancing, enjoy!

My New Toy!

A little over a week ago I mentioned I had some big news, and today....you get that news! Well, it may not be news anymore because some of you already know, but it's still fun.

Recently I had been saving up and putting money aside every month with the goal of buying a new, louder, more powerful exhaust system for the Challenger. I had a pretty good amount put aside, and then the weather started to get nice, and all of a sudden I started to see motorcycles on the road again. Now, most of you will remember that I did have a motorcycle previously, but decided to sell it last year before I ordered the Challenger, because at the time I knew I couldn't swing both. Well, a year later, it was time to start looking for another one.

Then about 2 weeks ago, I went and looked at one for sale from a member of DCSBN, and really liked it. He let me take it for a quick test spin around the neighborhood and I was hooked. I wanted to get a bike mainly for commuting to and from work in the summer. It's faster, cheaper [55mpg], I get to use the HOV lanes, plus it won't be nearly as tempting to put commuting miles on the Challenger when the weather is nice now, since I'll just ride the bike into work.

What I got is a Suzuki DRZ-400Sm [pictured above], and it's what's referred to as a supermoto bike, or motard, or just 'tard for short. It's basically a big dirt bike, but designed for street use with small off-road capabilities [gravel, packed dirt trails, grass, etc]. It'll be a great commuter bike for riding into and out of DC everyday. So far I really like it, am having a lot of fun, and am glad I decided to get this instead of a new exhaust system for the car...which will still happen, just not as soon as I had originally planned.

Anyway, I picked up the bike on Sunday afternoon, and on Wednesday afternoon had a chance to ride it over to my parents house to share with them my news! The following is a quick video of what went down. That's my roommate Chris with me in the video on his Harley Davidson sportster something something. Enjoy, and expect plenty more motorcycle videos to come!

Kid On A Leash Part IV

Well, kid on a ski-leash really, either way it's still funny. My brosef and his wife Katie went snowboarding the same place I did this week, just a few days later, and they were able to capture this picture on the slopes. Hats off for your crack-reporting and photography skills guys!

As always, take a picture of a kid on a leash, send it to me, it goes on the blog. Enjoy!

Fra-Jee-Lay, It Must Be Italian!

Ralphie, everyone knows this one. Not a whole lot to say about it except that it's pure classic [so much so that it's run 24 hours straight on TV starting tonight and lasting into tomorrow.] There are too many memorable moments in the movie to name, but 2 of my favorites are the scene when Ralphie finds the hidden package making his Christmas wish come true....and pretty much any scene with the 'Dad' ["This guy swallowed a yo-yo, now that's real news!"] Enjoy this theatrical trailer and I hope everyone has a safe and very Merry Christmas!

Cookie Monster

If this doesn't make you laugh and think of years past, then I don't know what does!! Seriously, there's not much out there that's better than a Sesame Street Christmas! ....except maybe 'Fragile'.....

Something, Something, Something, Dark Side

Hehehehe. If anyone remembers when Family Guy did the first parody, then they should know that the second installment looks even better! It comes out on Dec 22nd, and should be quite funny, I'm looking forward to it!

Flag Football Champs.....Again

I forgot to post this a couple weeks ago, but forgot. My indoor flag football team were season champs again. I think that makes like 6 'seasons' we've won so far. These picture are hilarious for a number a reasons.

1. We look like a bunch of misfits
2. There are about 8 different facial expressions going on
3. It appears as though we're looking at 15 different cameras
4. Dan is drinking his celebratory beer that he brought with him

Flowergirl On A Leash!

In an exciting twist, Katie once again has come through with these super duper shots of a FLOWERGIRL ON A LEASH from a wedding she recently attended. Now, I don't have any kids of my own, but I can't imagine trying to pick up your kid by the leash itself. C'mon lady!! Just remember, that kid your slinging around will be responsible for your care in like another 50 years!

Flowergirl on a leash is being hung by said leash!

Kid On A Leash Part III

Okay, my apologies for not updating this as often as I had. I hit a really busy spell, and am way behind on posting stuff. That being said, ON WITH THE SHOW!

My most favorite of all of my sister-in-law's, Katie, has been quite the sleuth behind the lens as of late. This first set of 'Kid on a leash' pictures were sent in about 2 weeks ago. I think we have some serious paparazzi talent on our hands! Enjoy!

THIS IS SO GOING IN MY BLOG!

I've been cracking up for the past hour or so at work. If you've never seen the show 'How I Met Your Mother' you really need to check it out. I can honestly say it's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Below are two clips, one compilation clip and then a clip of the 'Miracle Pencil.' The latter is why I can't stop laughing. Laughter makes the work day go by just a little faster too! This blog post is gonna be LEGEN.....wait for it.....

And purely for good measure

Pumpkin Cannon

Sorry folks for not posting anything the past couple days. I was out of town and then got real sick. But I'm feeling much better now and should be back to 106% by Friday. Anyways, it's now October and this video is awesome, so of course it had to be shared. Anyone want to try and make one with me??
