I wish Pam worked in my office, because she's lovely.

Stress Relievers?

Every once in a while, you just gotta let loose and just scream to let off some, well steam. [That was not intended to rhyme] If you're at a loss for what to yell to get that little bit of relief, might I suggest these two little golden nuggets. The first is probably quite a bit more popular, because it comes from Seinfeld. Serenity Now:

[Serenity Now]

The second comes from a far less popular, albeit brilliantly funny show called The League. It debuted last year on FX and is about a bunch of buddies and their fantasy football league. For anyone that plays fantasy football, you MUST watch this show! It's hilarious, and it also produced this tidbit, the Shiva Blast. Shiva is short for Shivakamini Somakandakram, the full name of an old high school student the fella's named their league and trophy after.

Which do you prefer?

Ro-Bert The Conqueror

I watch a lot of the Travel Channel on TV, and it's dangerous but inspiring and awesome all at the same time. There's a new show that debuted last week called 'Bert The Conqueror' - next to being a baseball manager and getting to see each game from the dugout, all decked out in nice looking gear with an endless supply of bubble gum, gatorade, and sunflower seeds, Bert has got to have the greatest job in the world....at least to someone like me!

This guy gets to travel all around the country doing the most insane stuff, and he gets paid to do it! Man did I really miss the boat on trying to take advantage of that job opening. To his credit though, he is really really funny to watch, and probably has a slightly better on camera persona that I might have, but that's nothing that I couldn't work on! He does have one advantage though, he's seems generally scared of a lot of these challenges, whereas I would be racing to be first in line, and then want to do it again blindfolded with my hands tied behind my back. That fear really comes out well in his facial expressions!

Jumping off a building in a simulated free fall? SIGN ME UP!!

[Bert, if you ever happen to read this and need a crazy sidekick to do these challenges with, goof off with, and possibly make fun of your crazy faces, let me know buddy and I am there!!! After all......my whole life revolves around being a 6 year old at heart!]

Air Guitar, Rocking Out, and Classic Rock

Every once in a while you have to just let loose and rock out. I do this on a regular basis, yet probably not enough. It's even better when you go nuts, and don't care how stupid [or awesome, depending on your point of view] you may look.

There are two videos posted below. Some of you may be familiar with the first one. It's from an episode of Scrubs when the hospital's air band, the 'Cool Cats' performs More Than A Feeling at the end. It's a classic scene. The second video is from this past weekend when I was down in Tennessee. We had some free time one afternoon and my buddy and I felt the urge to get our rock on. We also happened to choose More Than A Feeling as our song, and it wasn't until the weekend was long over did I remember about the Scrubs version.

Now, I don't think we could ever compare ourselves to the Cool Cats, but what's your take on our [unrehearsed] version? At any rate, I'm sure this will be good for a few laughs at my expense [I'm in the black trunks.] Happy Friday everyone. Enjoy!

Challenger Commercial

Up until this point there was never really any kind of commercial for the Dodge Challenger. The only thing that ever surfaced was the 'It's On' spot from a number a years ago that showed the concept Challenger. Now they've actually made a new one, and I'll be darned if it isn't awesome!!! Here's both videos, the one from a few years ago, and the recently released new one. Enjoy!

[2008 It's On spot]

"That's a Dodge Challenger. It is designed by people who really really love cars, for people who really really love cars, to drive past people who really don't care about cars at all." -- Haha, how perfect is that?!

Old TV Theme Songs

Man there was some good TV back in the day huh? The shows of today have nothing on the shows of yesteryear, and that is a fact! Below is a small compilation of some of my favorites I used to watch. I thoroughly hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I should note that this is only a SMALL sample, there are many many more where these came from, and also that these are the first versions of the themes, obviously they updated them as characters got older. What were some of your favorites?

Marketing: Good vs. Pathetic

I recently saw a new car commercial from Ford promoting the new 2010 Mustang. In short, it was absolutely horrendous, amateur, and pathetic. I don't know which highly paid exec over at Ford thought it would be a good idea to make a commercial marketed towards a teenage crowd that couldn't afford a new Mustang, or [as a majority] really care about this type of car to begin with, but they need to take a severe pay cut. And I say this being almost exactly who they're trying to market towards [a young male, who enjoys extreme sports, and fast cars.]

On the contrary, a few years back Ford absolutely nailed it when they released a multi-minute commercial of a completely different tune. That commercial, was well thought out, well written, sent a great positive message, and actually made you feel something. Bring back the guy who thought that one up, and give him a raise.

It really is amazing how out of touch with the consumer the vehicle manufacturers have become. Sad really. What happened?? Do they think that they can just throw together whatever the heck they want, throw in some graphics and a fast soundtrack, and expect us to eat it up like it's the the second coming of the combustion engine?? I don't think so. What's even harder to believe is that the two videos below are from the same company and made about the exact same product. If Ford wants to talk about 180's [pun intended] then all they need to do is stroll down the hall, look at the juvenile's running their marketing department, and realize how far they've fallen.

Runnin' On Fumes

Tuesday morning I left for work with the needle on gas gauge of the Challenger already registering under a quarter tank of gas. Now, almost everyone knows that means you have even less than its telling you, since the needle never moves anyway for the first 50-60 miles, then starts to drop, and by the time it gets to a quarter most tend to drop pretty rapidly, at least they have on all my cars. Anyways, I left for work with hopes of making it to and from work without running out of gas, so I was driving very conservatively (which, in the Challenger is VERY hard to do.) Right as I was leaving work that afternoon the gas light came on. C'monnnnn baby, you can do it! I made it all the way home [about 26 miles] with no issues.

Now, normally I would've stopped right before getting home to gas up since I was already on 'E'. Not that day though. You see, on Tuesday nights I play indoor flag football in Manassas, and Manassas currently has the cheapest gas available anywhere. So I might as well try and coach this thing another 11 miles to the Exxon right down the street from where we play, also about 15 cents a gallon cheaper than the station near my house....and when you're filling up with premium gas, every bit makes a difference! I'm happy to report that I made it there without running dry...barely. I was definitely running on fumes. My gas tank has a capacity of 19 gallons, and when I finished filling up, I had put in about 18.7 gallons. This photo above was taken with the engine still running, so you could see where the needle truly was, [unlike when you shut off the engine and the needle drops to 0] allll the way at the bottom of the red baby! I know the Colonel was quite happy to be refueled and ready to go. Just another bonding moment between the car and I.

Kramer and Rick still have me beaten though.

THIS IS SO GOING IN MY BLOG!

I've been cracking up for the past hour or so at work. If you've never seen the show 'How I Met Your Mother' you really need to check it out. I can honestly say it's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Below are two clips, one compilation clip and then a clip of the 'Miracle Pencil.' The latter is why I can't stop laughing. Laughter makes the work day go by just a little faster too! This blog post is gonna be LEGEN.....wait for it.....

And purely for good measure

Orange Sky

So there's a new show debuting tonight called Southland, I'm sure you've heard the commercials. What your ears may not have picked up on however is a particular song playing in the background; The song 'Orange Sky' by Alexi Murdoch [which is a really good song by the way.] To most this may seem like any other song to throw into a promo, but I know better. Once upon a time I was hooked on a little show called The OC. Laugh if you want, but it's true, and I don't deny it, I also have ears that can pick out a song that I know I've heard before. Because of these two facts I was able to make a connection that is no coincidence. I'm convinced that Alexi Murdoch and Ben McKenzie have a deal going on, that that song must be played at least one time in every prime time series Ben appears in. Want proof? Check these babies out:

I rest my case. Alexi.....Ben.....care to comment??

Super Bowl: After

Booo. I was definitely pulling for the Cards. Not that I don't like the Steelers, I actually don't mind them at all. It's their fans. Ugh. The fans are the worst. Seriously just because you hate living in PA as much as the rest of the country does, does not give you permission to move to my town and be obnoxious. At least it was a good game to watch, plus we had good food and company. Can't complain too much.

Let It Snow Baby, Let It Reindeer...

My brosef informed me the other day that Relient K was going to be on Jay Leno (the following night.) I went home and set the DVR to record it. Even though I haven't actually watched what I recorded, thanks to the magic of the internet and youtube I was able to see their performance yesterday. It should be known that my brother posted about this first yesterday, but it's simply too good not to share again. And yes, that is Biff from 'Back To The Future' you see at 2:36 rocking that guitar. Enjoy.

Whale Wars

The other night I was over at my parents house for some dinner and visiting. At one point my brother (who is married to this lovely young lady) asked me if I had ever seen the tv show 'Whale Wars'. I replied no, but mentioned that I heard a local radio personality doing an interview with the guy who was the helicopter pilot on the show. My brother gave me the brief rundown on the show and mentioned a few acts of defiance that sounded pretty cool. Since I hadn't recorded any of the episodes I checked to see if it was available on demand, and sure enough, there it was! Only 5 episodes were available (I believe more get added after each new episode airs) but I worked my way through them pretty darn quickly. For those of you who haven't yet heard of or seen the show yet, I highly recommend taking my brother's advice and checking it out. Here's a sample...

Yea, and I thought I was a bit crazy.
